Rooks boss Steve King made two changes to the starting eleven following the draw at St Albans, with Ian Selley and Jamie Cade rested, Dale Binns returning from suspension and Paul Kennett making his first start of the season.
The home side started very positively and indeed might have been a goal up inside four minutes. Dale Binns' cross from the left was fumbled into his own net by Bromley 'keeper Andy Walker, but the assistant referee then decided that ball had bent out of play and the 'goal' was thus disallowed.
Three minutes later the visitors took the lead when Danny Hockton raced onto a through ball and held off Ian Simpemba before cracking a volley past Steve Williams. Nic McDonnell doubled their lead with barely a quarter of an hour played with a very similar goal, although on this occasion there did appear to be a suspicion of offside.
The Rooks then struggled to break down a well-organised and hard-working Bromley side, although Binns did have one fine run and shot which was cleared off the line by ex Lewes centre half Francis Duku. However only a last ditch tackle by Simpemba prevented McDonnell from bagging his second just before the break, a scenario which would surely have guaranteed all three points for the visitors.
As it was the Rooks kept searching for a way through after the break without looking very likely to find one, even after Matt Groves came off the bench to make his home debut. However all that changed with seven minutes remaining, when the big striker got on the end of an Andy Drury chip into the box, held off Duku and smashed home his first Lewes goal.
Suddenly the home side's tails were up, but as the game moved into added time they had yet to create another real opportunity. Nevertheless with just seconds remaining Groves again held the ball up well before releasing Booth, and his inch perfect cross from the right to the far post gave Legge, who had replaced injured substitute Gary Holloway, the opportunity to notch his first goal of the season and earn his side an unlikely draw.
