Boss Steve King recalled Matt Groves and Jamie Cade to the starting line-up, with Wormull moving back to central midfield and Andy Drury returning to the right, whilst Cade slotted in on the left. The home side were ahead on 13 minutes, when Wormull's brilliant ball released Drury, and he unselfishly squared the ball across the face of goal to leave Paul Booth with an easy tap in to register his 20th league goal of the season.
The Rooks remained in control for the rest of the half without creating a great deal by way of clearcut opportunities. However their lead should have been doubled just before the interval when the referee disallowed a perfectly good Groves goal after a Basingstoke defender had stooped below waist height to attempt a headed clearance, and was duly awarded a free kick for dangerous play by the Lewes forward.
After the interval Drury's quickly taken corner on 55 minutes found Wormull, and his swerving effort from the left corner of the area completely deceived visiting 'keeper Chris Tardiff to make it 2-0. The last half hour was one way traffic, with shot after shot raining down on the Basingstoke goal as the Rooks poured forward in irresistible fashion. By the end of the 90 minutes both Groves and Booth could easily have had a hat trick, whilst Jay Conroy went close with a spectacular effort from near the halfway line, and Drury blazed over from eight yards when it looked easier to score. The visitors' cause was not helped by the sending-off of Jamie Whisken with twenty minutes remaining for a stamp on Cade, and goals by Wormull on 82 and Groves on 86 minutes duly sealed a second successive 4-0 home win.
