Struggling on a heavy pitch and a blustery wind, both teams struggled to settle early on, but it was the visitors who took the lead after 27 minutes.
Paul Booth's free-kick on the edge of the box was fumbled by City keeper Ashley Timms which allowed Robbo to bundle the opener home from close range.
The lead only lasted three minutes when Josh Simpson’s shot took an unfortunate deflection off of Robbo, leaving Lewes keeper Michael Jordan stranded.
The Rooks looked set for a difficult afternoon but they were soon ahead again on 34 minutes. Timms slipped clearing Gary Holloway’s shot and the ball was only cleared as far as Matt Groves who slotted home through a crowded box from the edge of the area.
Back in front, Lewes grew in confidence and 4 minutes after the break, Groves almost added to his tally but his shot, following a strong run from Booth, was cleared off the line by Lee Chaffey.
The Rooks were back playing the sort of free-flowing football that has been missing following their recent spell of injuries, and the vocal travelling support were certainly appreciative.
Andy Drury gave them another reason to cheer on the hour following up Booth’s shot with a low drive past Timms that sealed an entertaining victory.
