New coaching staff for the Rooks Thursday 2 July 2009

Lewes FC is pleased to announce two new coaching appointments for the new season.

Simon Gough, a UEFA B coach and head of sport at St Bedes School, near Hailsham, has become assistant coach for the first team.

Simon has great pedigree and experience, and coaches at Brighton & Hove Albion’s Centre of Excellence. As part of the deal, the club has secured the use of the excellent facilities at St Bede’s and the squad will be training at the school throughout the season.

Additionally, Dave Winterton, who has helped the club out in the past, has now joined the coaching staff on a more permanent basis, primarily as goalkeeping coach.

Dave, whose son Chris had a spell at the Dripping Pan last season after being released by Eastbourne Borough and Brighton & Hove Albion, has played at a high level himself before managing Eastbourne Town and then joining the Albion’s Centre of Excellence as a goalkeeping coach.

The club welcomes Simon and Dave to the Dripping Pan and would also like to extend their thanks to the staff and pupils of St Bede’s for allowing the use of their training facilities during the season.
