Message from the Manager Saturday 4 July 2009
Thank you for your continued support of Lewes Football Club.
In the 2009/10 season we’re in Blue Square South, a competitive, entertaining league, and our first game is at home to Weymouth on 8 August as you’ll see on the Fixture List below, which also shows friendlies.
It’s disappointing that we weren’t able to keep our position in Blue Square Premier. With hindsight, it was probably a step too far at this stage of our development and, although I believe it was a great achievement for the Club to get there, it has contributed to our financial difficulties.
We must learn lessons from our recent experiences and changes have been put in place aimed at stabilising the Club’s position, both on and off the field. In many ways, this is going to be a year of transition but we’re determined to do all we can to ensure that development of the Club is resumed, but at a pace we can sustain.
We hope that as many of you as possible will come and join in with us in our efforts to make this the start of a happy and successful new era for Lewes FC. We’ve already started training and are close to finalising our squad. We’ve aimed at a mix of most of the experienced players who ended last year with a number of talented younger players; many from the bunch you saw towards the end of last season and some new ones with a bit more experience. We hope to be able to let you have more information about the squad over the next few days.
Jason Hopkinson, new assistant coach Simon Gough, the players and myself are all working hard to be as prepared as we can and are excited about the new season and looking forward to it.
We want to encourage fans back to the Pan and recognise that we’re in a lower league and so as noted under “Season Tickets for Sale”, news item, the admission prices have been lowered as follows:-
Category On the Day Season Tickets
Adults £10 £150
Senior Citizens and 14-16 year olds £5 £75
Under 14s £2 £30
Season Tickets cover home league games and, if bought before 14 July, also cover Home Friendlies.
I’m sure you’ll agree that Season Tickets are great value for money. Application Forms can be obtained from David Arnold (01273478513 or david.arnold@me.com) or Carole Bailey, Lewes FC, Castle Works, Westgate, Lewes, BN7 1YR (01273 407975) and should be completed and sent to Carole with payment.
Cheques must be payable to “Lewes FC Members Club”.
I hope to see you at the Pan soon.
Steve Ibbitson, Manager
