Ibbitson adds defensive strength to his squad Wednesday 2 June 2010

Lewes manager Steve Ibbitson has bolstered his defence with two key signings for the new season.

Former Crawley defender Marc Pullen joins the Rooks after his release from Blue Square Bet Premier side Eastbourne Borough.

The 36 year old joined Borough from Worthing in 2006 and played a total of 210 games for the Sports before departing at the end of last season.

Ibbitson told The Argus "We feel we need a little bit more experience and Marc will give us that."

“He has played at this standard and higher and we believe that Marc and Simon Wormull will give us that bit extra experience for next season."

Ibbitson has also recruited ex-Brighton and Hove Albion Youth captain Sonny Cobbs for the new campaign.

The left back was another long-term target for Ibbitson and joins the Rooks from Sutton United having made 53 appearances and scored seven goals.

Cobbs has experience in midfield with Sutton and Welling United, and offers strength, commitment and a competitive temperament.
