Dale Binns was in fine form as Lewes went back to the top of the league with an excellent win in south Wales. The Rooks took a first half through Andy Drury, but chances were squandered throughout the game, and it looked like they would pay the price when Newport equalised on 82 minutes. However substitute Tom Davis headed them back in front with a minute remaining, and Gary Holloway converted a last minute penalty to seal the three points.

Pauls Booths 86th minute winner was enough to keep the Rooks at the top of the Blue Square South table whilst taking his personal tally to 30. Dale Binns was unfortunate to have his goal disallowed when pictures show the ball had crossed the line. The Rooks were cheered on by a bumper crowd of 921.
Paul Kennett was denied his first goal of the season by a fine save, and Paul Booth hit the underside of the bar, but other than there was little to shout about as the Rooks saw their lead at the top cut to four points after this stalemate.

Derek Duncan has returned to the Rooks on a two month loan deal from Wycombe. After impressing with several man of the match performances last season, Steve King is over the moon at getting the exciting winger back.
This move comes on the back of another crowd favourite Kirk Watts leaving for Tonbridge Angels. At the age of 29 Kirk wanted regular first team football. Everyone at the club wishes him the best of luck.

There will be a penalty shootout competition on the pitch tomorrow at half time between a Bognor supporter and a Lewes supporter chosen at random from the travelling hoards, with £100 to the winner - but you need to bring your football boots with you if you are to have any chance of being the lucky one to be selected before kick-off!

At last football was back at the Dripping Pan on Wednesday night, as Lewes took on a Fulham XI consisting mainly of Reserve team players. Andy Drury wellied home the winner from well outside the box in the 29th minute and also struck the bar late in the second half. Lewes gave debuts to Tom Davis, Jay Conroy and Dale Binns, as well as several triallists. Fulham struggled to impose their neat passing game on a robust Lewes defence and midfield, and the Rooks always looked like snatching a second goal despite a string of 2nd half substitutions.

Boss Steve King has moved quickly to fill the void left by Paul Harford's departure, installing Justin Skinner as his new assistant manager. The former Fulham, Walsall, Hibernian and Dunfermline midfielder spent last season as QPR's reserve team manager, and has also worked as a coach in Chelsea's academy.

The Conference Blue Square South released its fixtures today (3rd July), and the Rooks will start their campaign by welcoming newly merged Hayes and Yeading United to the Pan on Saturday 11th August. The complete fixture list can now be found in the Fixtures section of the site.
