Welcome to Lewes Ladies

Hello and welcome to Lewes Ladies FC.

Our ambition for this, and every, season is to improve on last season! Lewes currently sit at their highest point in the football hierarchy, having firmly established ourselves in the South East Combination League with consecutive top half finishes following promotion in 2006 / 07. With a talented squad, a committed management team and solid backing we are confident of continuing improvement.

The squad is backed generously by its sponsors and is fully integrated into the Lewes FC setup, enjoying one of the best pitches in the league at the Dripping Pan.

We believe in teamwork, talent and progression. Every player in the squad has a role to play, not just the eleven on the pitch. Our selection policy is fair and based on performance and attitude; players must fight for a starting place and play well to keep it. Our ethos is that no one is bigger than the Team and we endeavour to combine as one solid unit. Team Spirit is a major factor and we must focus on what is right for the Team.

Money matters

We are very grateful to our sponsors, Groom Cars, who cover the cost of registration and match fees for the Ladies squad. To meet the remaining cost of training kit and travel we ask every player to raise £50 in sponsorship for the season, payable by latest 30th August. The only additional cost is £6 each week for training .All payments must be paid on time!

Training

The squad train at Brighton Rugby Club at Waterhall in Brighton (3 G) on Wednesday evenings between 8pm – 10pm.

Each player is expected to attend Training throughout the season. We realise that things do crop up however regular non attendance will not be acceptable as this has a huge impact on you the players and more importantly the Coach!

We recognise that fitness will play a big part this season so we will be introducing regular fitness sessions with Steven on top of the normal sessions and these will be on Tuesdays or Thursdays. Your attendance will benefit not just you but the whole squad so please ensure you attend as many as possible. Let’s be fitter than any of the opposition!

Injuries

We want to try and prevent injuries by doing the right things such as the warm up/down etc……however if you have any injuries please make sure you let us know ASAP and consult with Steve/Marie so we can assess and take the right course of action.

News

We have enjoyed excellent coverage and profiling in the past. Match reports can be found in the Sussex Express every Friday and regular updates are on the Web site under the Ladies section www.lewesfc.com. Occasionally features will be found in other sources such as www.fgmag.com and The Argus.

Lewes LFC has an open door policy and will have potential players, who may want to join during the season, please make sure they are welcomed. We will only register players who will add value to the existing squad.

Finally we want you to feel fulfilled and happy playing for, currently the best side in Sussex. It’s important that we all challenge ourselves and have the will and skills to succeed. My one and only ask of you all is to be AVAILABLE especially for training simply because you don’t want to disrespect your team by not being there!
