Lewes FC are delighted to announce the signing of experienced Welsh defender Nicola Cousins, who is the Rooks’ seventh signing of the summer and will wear the number 5 for the upcoming season.

Cousins spent the 2019/20 season unattached, but before then was playing in the Women’s Super League for Yeovil Town. Cousins joined the Glovers in 2014 and became an important figure for the Club and played over 100 games. In the 2018/19 season, Cousins made the third highest amount of interceptions in the WSL.

Before playing for Yeovil, Cousins was playing in her home country for Cardiff City Ladies. She also played in the NCAA league in the United States of America and spent her time there playing as a striker.

On the international scene, Cousins has represented Wales at both underage level and first-team level.

Cousins’ versatility on the pitch could prove to be a valuable asset for the Rooks this season. The 31-year-old can play at both centre-back and full-back, while she also has the ability to play in midfield.
