Lewes FC is recruiting a Head Coach and Assistant Coach to work with our women’s Development Squad, which forms part of the elite pathway. We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic individuals who wish to coach - and develop as a coach - in an active and successful community club. The pathway consists of U14s, U16s, and a Development Squad (age 16-21) which feed into the first team playing football in the FA Championship, the second tier of English football.

Job Title: Development Squad Head Coach

Employer: Lewes FC

Hours & Availability: Training 2 evenings/week and match days (Sunday) with optional evening gym sessions

Remuneration: £15/hour for 6 hours/week, during pre-season and season.

Reports to: 1st Team Manager

Role and Responsibilities

• Lead on match days, trials, team selection and tactics.

• Plan, deliver and review sessions within the four corners coaching philosophy (technical, psychological, physical and social) and lead individual and team development.

• Create a positive, fun and challenging learning environment for players aged 16 to 21.

• Liaise with the 1st Team Manager and other pathway coaches and support individual players to progress up to the first team where appropriate.

• Develop good rapport with players and provide them with mentorship and guidance on their football journey.

• Complete individual player development plans and provide timely, accurate and constructive feedback to players and parents.

• Lead on relevant administrative tasks related to the role.

• Attend and contribute to club meetings and parents’ evenings.

• Report safeguarding concerns.

• Represent Lewes FC in a professional manner.

• Adhere to club policies including on safeguarding, anti-bullying and equality.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Minimum of FA level 2 but with a desire to develop in the role.

• Completed the FA Safeguarding Children Workshop and have an in-date qualification.

• Strong tactical analysis and ability to use video footage to educate and inform players of tactical concepts.

• Experience of and enthusiasm for coaching and mentoring young female players with excellent communication skills.

• Understanding of learning, development and high performance with a proven ability to create optimum learning environments for players.

• Empathy with young players with an ability to inspire.

• Aware of diversity and equality challenges in football.

Job Title: Development Squad Assistant Coach
