Lewes started their pre-season campaign with an encouraging display and a 4-0 win at Peacehaven & Telscombe.
Rooks fans travelled in numbers to see their side play for the first time since October, and were able to enjoy a lively display from a side mainly made up of trialists and players from the club's development pathway, including talented youngsters Nic D'Arienzo and Brad Santos, who are both under contract for the 2021/22 season.
There were few chances of note for either side during the first half, with both teams looking to play out from the back .
Lewes took the lead just before half-time, as a deep corner from the right was headed in at the far post.\
Both sides made several changes at half-time and Lewes started the second half enjoying plenty of possession, moving the ball quickly in midfield and looking a threat in the final third.
The Rooks doubled their lead on 53 minutes as they won the ball high up the pitch and the ball was squared from the left for Destiny Ojo to finish smartly from close range.
The remainder of the second half saw good football from both sides, as Peacehaven committed more players forward without creating any clear-cut opportunities.
Lewes finished the game strongly and went 3-0 up in the closing stages, as incisive build-up play down the left ended with the ball being cut-back for a trialist to find the bottom corner from inside the area.
The Rooks completed the scoring with the final meaningful action of the game, as a through-ball was collected and calmly finished across the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner by the impressive Ojo to make it 4-0 and ensure an encouraging start to pre-season.
Lewes travel to Lancing for their next friendly on Saturday, kick-off at 3pm.
